Hello Friends!
My name is Britney, and I am the one writing each of these posts! Here is a little about myself:
I grew up in Sherwood, Wisconsin; a community in Eastern Wisconsin. If you are unfamiliar with this area, maybe you have heard of High Cliff State Park. If so, High Cliff is a state park located within the limits of Sherwood! If you still are not sure of where I am talking, Google Maps is a blessing and can assist you. Despite growing up in Sherwood, I graduated from Kaukauna High School, a city about 15 minutes away from my home, in 2019. Now, I am a proud Knight at Saint Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin.
As a sophomore in college, I am excited to continue my path of becoming a teacher. I am majoring in Elementary Education and minoring in Spanish and English as a Second Language. Currently, on campus, I am Resident Assistant (RA) in Sensenbrenner Hall, and a Full Spectrum Research Fellow. Throughout my freshman year of college, I was an ALIVE Apprentice which meant that I take on the role as a vocational and spiritual mentor for my residential hall. I hosted weekly gathering sessions with two others that I worked with and assisted my peers in their vocational and spiritual uncertainties. As a Full Spectrum Research Fellow, I work with a group of students and staff at the college to create and implement an interactive grid combining the variations of technology usage and instruction levels within classrooms. I assist in the production of videos presenting various professors expounding on their course placements within the grid and share them on the website for the community to view. This includes generating video ideas, creating scripts, interviewing professors, and collaborating with the others on my team to carry out plans. In regards to clubs I am involved in, I am a part of the Aspiring Educators group on campus as well as Pen Pals and CRU. As you can tell, I am a busy person, but I enjoy being ambitious!
Adventure is one word that comes to mind when I think of my interests. I enjoy traveling with friends to new places, both local and distant. This may include a short trip to a nearby park to hammock or a drive to some caves for spelunking! I furthermore enjoy my adventures up north on my family’s lake front property. Soaking up the sun, playing volleyball, spending time in the lake, sitting around a campfire, and falling asleep in my hammock under the stars is how I enjoy spending my summers. Besides adventures, I have always had a passion for dance. I was a dancer for 11 years at a local studio, and I have done a variety of styles including jazz, lyrical, tap, hip hop, and ballroom. Through my school, I participated in track and soccer. I continue to look for and engage in ways to continue these passions of mine on the Saint Norbert campus.
Faith is a very important part of my life. I grew up in the church, and I am still actively involved within it. I enjoy partaking in mission and service trips, and so far these have included two trips to Mexico, a trip to Alaska, two trips to Chicago. Additionally, I partook in Destination Unknown for two years during high school, and, for this, us students did not know where our leaders were taking us until we reached the location and were given our service tasks. Each of these were unique and impactful in their own ways, and not only was I able to make a difference in the lives of others, I was able to open up my heart and learn more about myself! In addition to mission and service trips, I served in my church’s Children’s Ministry on Sunday mornings as a small group leader and classroom teacher for elementary students, and I developed a Student Leadership Team for my youth group. Through that team, I helped lead retreats and emcee for events. As I demonstrate through my involvement, I have a passion to reach others and share my faith with them, and I am excited to share my journey with you through my posts!
Okay…there is so much more I would love to share with you at this moment, but my introduction of myself is getting a bit long. Therefore, stay tuned for more information about how I dynamically live with a FULL heart within my community, and I hope that I can somehow inspire you and reach your heart. Goodbye for now!
